Isn't it enough if I just have a business website?

During our many years of working with web design, in our effort to inform professionals about their business website, we have met many professionals who have stopped us claiming that "I have a business website". Don't think this is very different from some who think "My customers don't use the internet" or something we were told in a shoe business "People don't buy shoes online".

Of course, if in your business only sell hearing aids to elders who have no children and grandchildren, you may be right. Because if they have children or grandchildren they are more likely to search online for the product their grandparents need.

People are no longer using the internet to look for your phone or business address like 10 years ago. If you don't believe us you can see exactly what people are looking for online in your country or worldwide through a Google tool.

People are using the internet to get informed, to be entertained, to find information on products and topics of interest, to compare product prices and much more. You can now get a new customer by bringing him or her to your business website from a piece of information he or she has been looking for online. And that's another reason why you need content on your website, in addition to being one of the most important factors that will get you to the search engines. And when we say content we mean texts, not images.

The business website is the mirror of your business

The business website is the one that will make the first impression about your business and tell a story about your business, to the world that will find you online: how attentive it is, how often it is updated, and even how much it cares about its customer. An old and neglected website gives the impression that you are not interested in the image you are presenting for your business, nor is the opinion of its visitor concerns you.

New research is constantly being carried out on the features that a modern business website should have, to show a positive image and to increase visitor time. According to a Missouri University of Science and Technology survey, it takes less than two-tenths of a second for a visitor to form the first image of your business from the image your site presents. It also takes another 2.6 seconds for the visitor's eyes to be concentrated in such a way as to enhance the image that the first impression leaves. You can read this paper as published in Springer.

Search engine algorithms are evolving rapidly and counting infinitely many things to rank a website such as the speed of website opening, the duration of visitors staying on the website, if the website appears correctly on all devices, it's content and much more. The rules for the appearance and functionality of a website are constantly changing. A modern website should be relaxing, user-friendly and help visitors find what they need quickly and easily.
